Cloud’s on the horizonThere’s a lot of love for Noctis and
his bros at the moment but we
haven’t forgotten your promises,
Square Enix. Since the surprise
announcement at E3 2015 that a full-blown
FFVII remake was real and happening, we’ve
had a snippet of footage featuring gorgeous
cutscenes and a fully rendered Cloud swinging
his big sword in real-time combat, but little else.
News that Square Enix had only taken
development back in-house since summer,
having previously partnered with externalstudio CyberConnect2, suggests we still have a
while to wait to complete the whole story. But
with the decision to retell the classic story in
episodic releases, there’s still high hopes we’ll
set foot in Midgar next year.
